Antenatal preparation package, £150
In the 90-minute session we will cover:
- How breastfeeding works
- Common problems women face and how to overcome them
- Managing expectations during the first few weeks
- How to get breastfeeding off to the best start
I will also address any concerns you might have about breastfeeding such as:
- Previous breast surgery
- Previous difficulties
- Flat or inverted nipples
- Expected NICU admission
We will also cover antenatal hand expression (colostrum harvesting). This has been proven to reduce common breastfeeding difficulties and increase maternal confidence. Antenatal expression leads to greater milk production and the mother's ‘milk coming in’ quicker. This will give you the tools you require if you experience any plugged ducts or engorgement, and it will be particularly helpful if you have gestational diabetes, a baby that goes to NICU or you have a caesarean birth.
I will show you the correct technique to obtain colostrum, and we will try to get as many syringes as possible to get you off to the best start. The full colostrum harvesting kit will be provided, including, syringes, labels and bags ready for you to build up your own stash!
Further Information on Postnatal Services
Postnatal breastfeeding home visit, £140 (follow-up visits £80)
During the home visits, I will develop recommendations for you and together we can create and implement a plan that will suit both you and your baby.
Breastfeeding Video / Telephone Consultation, £70
This is best suited to consultations where an in-person visit is not practical. Due to the nature of a video call this is more suited for discussions / reassurance.
The Full Package, £320
The full package includes the antenatal preparation package, lactation planning and two further postnatal home visits.
